How to set carrd langauge
Set Your Carrd Site’s Language
- Log in to Carrd and open the site you want to edit.
- Click "Publish" (the little floppy disk icon in the nav menu).
- Click the “Settings” (gear icon).
- Find the “Language” field.
- Select your preferred language from the dropdown.
- After making your selection, publish your site.
Setting the language in Carrd adds a lang attribute to your site’s HTML (for example, <html lang="en">). This attribute tells browsers, search engines, and assistive technologies which language your content is written in.
This small detail has a few important effects:
- Search engines use it to better index your site in the correct language version of Google (for example, Google Japan or Google Spain).
- Browsers can display localized UI elements—such as date formatting or input hints—based on the page’s language.
- Accessibility tools like screen readers rely on the
langtag to pronounce words correctly in the target language. - Translation tools such as Google Translate detect the original language more accurately when this tag is set.
Note: Most Carrd templates use English as the default, so you need to change the language of the page manually if you're writing non-English content. Choosing the correct language setting helps your Carrd site reach global audiences and ensures an accessible experience for all visitors.
Set Your Carrd Editor’s Language
Currently, the Carrd editor’s user interface is available only in English. This means all buttons, menus, and labels appear in English, even if your published site is in another language. While this may be challenging for non-English users, the editor remains easy to use due to its visual layout and intuitive icon-based design.
You can still build sites in any language—only the editing interface is limited to English.
