Free carrd Alternatives 2025

What is carrd?

Carrd.co is a user-friendly website builder designed for creating simple, responsive one-page websites. Launched as a side project, Carrd has gained popularity for its ease of use and minimalist approach to web design. Carrd is particularly popular among freelancers, artists, and small businesses looking to establish a quick online presence without the need for complex functionality.

Limitations

While it excels at creating simple, elegant websites, it's important to note that there are also limitations.

No multi-page

Single page is enough for a lot of cases. However, if you start with one page then your traffic grows, and you need to add more content, single page is not enough. Then you have to migrate away from carrd which is painful. Besides there are also drawbacks on SEO.

No rich text editing

Carrd is using a plain text editor formatted using markdown. It's quite something to learn for a non-tech-savy user.

And because you have to use an element for each single paragraph, you may quickly hit the 50 element limit on the free plan. Then you have to migrate away and redo all your designs🥹. So Carrd may not be the choice if you're writing long text (eg, blogs).

Limited styling in the free plan

Carrd is based on a really limited subset of CSS. Your design will be limited. If you want more flexibility you have to pay to use CSS, which not economic and hard to learn.

Here are 2 cases I can remember as of now. But there are more.
